Everything you need to know about TRAI's Distributed Ledger Technology framework for compliant commercial messaging in India.
DLT Registration is a mandatory registration process introduced by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for businesses that send commercial or transactional SMS. It ensures that only verified businesses can send SMS through authorized telecom operators.
DLT Registration is required to verify business identity, prevent fraudulent SMS, and comply with TRAI regulations. Without DLT approval, businesses cannot send promotional or transactional SMS through authorized telecom networks in India.
Any organization sending Bulk SMS, OTP SMS, transactional notifications, or promotional alerts to customers in India.
Yes. Businesses sending commercial or transactional SMS through telecom operators in India are strictly required to complete DLT registration and use approved sender IDs and templates in accordance with applicable TRAI regulations.
Business PAN, GST Certificate, Certificate of Incorporation / Shop Act, proof of address, and authorized signatory photo ID & authorization letter.
Typically approved within 48 to 72 business hours after accurate document upload. Incomplete documents or unmatched names may extend operator review.
We assist with entity onboarding, header whitelisting, template registration, and sync with SMSINDIAHUB Telemarketer ID: 1702157373640103575.
Unregistered businesses cannot send any SMS. Outgoing traffic without approved DLT templates will fail telecom scrubbing and get permanently dropped.
DLT Registration is generally required for businesses that send commercial or transactional SMS through telecom operators in India. Completing DLT registration helps verify your business, register Sender IDs and SMS templates, and comply with applicable TRAI requirements before sending Bulk SMS or OTP SMS. SMSINDIAHUB assists businesses throughout the DLT registration process.
Complete steps for DLT registration. Entities not registered on the DLT platform cannot send messages. Follow this 4-step verified workflow.
Includes KYC documents like GST, PAN, TAN, CIN, etc. The process is designed for quick completion. Upon verification, your organization receives a unique Entity ID (PE ID).
SMS headers are classified into 4 categories: Transactional, Promotional, Service Implicit, and Service Explicit. Entities register headers matching their business name. Each header receives a unique Header ID.
Once a content template is created and approved, the entity retains ownership across all telecom platforms. Each template receives a unique Template ID shared across other DLT platforms.
Once your template is approved on the DLT platform, add all approved templates into the SMSHUB Portal or email them in the Excel format to support@smsindiahub.in for instant binding.
Every Content Template registered by a Principal Entity must contain the ‘Brand Name(s)’ (complete business name, brand name, or trademark) in the message content field. All templates registered must strictly include the registered brand identifier.
For Enterprise registration, telecom operators charge a standard registration/renewal fee of Rs. 5,900/- (inclusive of GST). Upon successful payment and verification (typically 72 working hours), you receive a unique Entity ID valid across all telecom networks.
You can register with any of the authorized telecom operators below as a Principal Entity to get your headers and content templates approved. Once approved on one operator, your Entity ID syncs across all operators.
Airtel DLT portal for Principal Entity registration, header assignment, and content scrub.
